take a break to truly live
Putting yourself through a reset is one of the greatest gifts you can give to yourself. I mean, why do you think it's important to fast in spirituality? Because when you remove the noise, you remove everything that gets in the way of seeing and hearing clearly. When you hear and see clearly, you can participate in life’s play more consciously, without going on autopilot. This isn't only about fasting from food; it is about putting aside what you consume on every level. Make it as simple as you can. Get comfortable with eating simple foods and giving up any excessive social media information that you take in every day. I know it’s not always easy; we’re living in a world that kinda pulls us back into consuming content really easily – especially with a phone in our pocket. It gives instant access to everything, and while that can be good, it can also turn into a negative aspect when you misuse it and don’t know how to discipline yourself with it. When you feel that need, that urge to check your phone come up, you can comfort yourself by saying, “just for this week, I will live without this social media.” Don’t scold yourself if you forget; be proud of how you noticed slipping back into the habit, and give yourself a pat on your back! You’re not really removing the habit completely; you are giving yourself the opportunity to experience how life becomes when you intentionally decide to take a break from the stuff you consume, and realize what really drains your energy and what truly recharges you. Create the best environment for you to be by yourself and with the people you love without the constant need to be entertained, without the constant need to direct your focus and attention to a screen, or to anything that will make you lose touch with yourself. And if any pain or uncomfortable feeling comes up during this time, congratulations this is a part within you that only wants to be listened to, you made enough space for them to be freed. Will you turn your back on them? Or will you find the courage to embrace them and let them be with you, reclaim them into wholeness? Gift yourself a reset from everything. Be in the world, but choose to be in the world in a different way. When you are in your own home, reclaim your power by understanding how you use your time and energy. No need to get away from the “worldly life” completely. However, if you have the opportunity to go on a small holiday, do it. Take walks, spend some time journaling, and do things that make your inner child happy, even if it sounds silly to your adult self. Be creative again. Learn to observe the world as if you were a newborn baby and take your time with each and every detail. Connect with nature by looking at trees, animals, and the sky. Dive back into the gratitude of the heart when you re-discover peace, joy, and contentment. I am not here to write down a “how-to-do a reset” kind of thing. I’m here to tell you it’s time to remember how to live life with presence, and you can choose how that looks for you.
