A Ray from the Inner Realm

Making Choices

The main thing we can learn about making choices is that they gotta feel right in our hearts. At times, we use too much reason and too little intuition to move forward in our paths and that results only in more lessons. It's good to ask for advice to others only when we are very young on our path, and when I say others I mean, people you trust, people who are trusthworthy and whose life looks ideal to you. However, not everyone is fit to give advice because everyone operates from a specific level of consciousness and you have to discern when people speak from wisdom, from programming or trauma. The most important thing that you can learn from others is that it may help you only as long as you don't take the advice as a To-Do Thing/Process, but something you can reflect on, because others can only point you towards the light, you are the One who walks through it. You are the only one who can do it for yourself, you are the only One responsible for your own choices...So the earlier you learn to discern choices for yourself and be indipendent in this aspect of your life, the easier it will be to enjoy life. Other people's advice is as good as a reminder that you can too tap into your inner Wisdom and that only you can know what's right for you, while others know or think to know what's right for them.

You see, the way to make choices is to do them yourself, to make up your mind and know your vision, be attuned to the True Self within you, because only what is True stays, and another thing about this is that many times what is true in a moment, takes a new shape after some time and our ability to welcome renewal is way more valuable than sticking to only one version of it... because many times life has shown us its unpredictability and how things don't go according to plan, which is a relief...it would be boring knowing how everything unfolds, wouldn't it ruin the fun? On one hand we realize that learning to make choice is almost like a game, where we truly don't know how it'll exactly turn out and on the other hand, we can test ourselves and our ability to 1. sense into things 2. learn as we make choices, which isn't only about making the choice itself but seeing what's there to learn through trial and error (which will be the bonus cookie of the journey and probably one of the most enjoyable parts even when it doesn't look so- but that's just because we leave in a mentality where mistakes are seen only negatively, and yet, mistakes are the way) 3. learn who we are through choices 4. detect the motives of our choices and the hidden motives 5. know our priorities and what matters to us.

Sometimes as we look for solutions to our problems, we should really look into the intention that moves us. Are we doing it because we truly want a solution or because we are simply content with getting rid of the problem? The two aren't the same, there is a slight difference. Because if it's about feeling better rather than growing then you know the outcome is just staying comfortable and growth is not comfortable.

Beware of the fear-based choices above everything else because they push us into suffering or the ones you take under the influence of others. For example, last year I joined a course out of the fear of missing a "sparkling" opportunity and that kept me busy when all I needed was to be Present with myself. And another example from last month is when I was reading a book and I felt like I knew the truth within myself, but leaned on the guidance from the book more than my own and that resulted in suffering. A part of me says "I knew better than doing that" and another part of me that doesn't judge, just asks "Did you?". But this helped me expand my perspective even more and give me a wonderful reminder. Sometimes we get excited because what works for others may be what works for us, or so we hope, but the only way to know is sit with ourselves and find the answer within. We cannot enter a hole designed by others, we cannot dig our True Voice underneath other's people voices...no matter how much our reasoning mind tries to come up with reasons to follow that. Wisdom is about knowing without reasons, it is a great paradox but it always turns out that wisdom-based choices have bright outcomes, because they're aligned with who we are. Do not force yourself to shove down methods by others, ask yourself what you wanna do? Remember when you were a kid and it felt like everyone was telling you what to do or who to be? Yeah? That time is over now and it is your responsibility to walk yourself out of that place and find your own. Go back to that kid and ask yourself: what do you truly wanna do? who are you truly? (not who you WANT TO BE) because Becoming is about Revealing who you always were. So start from your state of Being and the rest follows.
