A Ray from the Inner Realm

Here's the first bloom of my rose... dedicating it to all those who are growing, taking tiny steps to move forward in life, learning how to show up for themselves and love themselves.

I love nature. I love trees. I love flowers.
I love flowers especially, because they are very generous like anything else in the Flora World. They gift us beauty of all kinds, in shades, in scent, and also with their healing properties! I am not only talking about herbal medicine, I include the flower essences, which are a vibrational medicine that harmonizes negative emotional states and helps to bring back balance - so yes, I am a flower essence enthusiast! I discovered Bach Flower Remedies some time ago and I've always felt close to Dr. Bach's ideology and way of seeing things. I also appreciate any other flower essence system because this wisdom is ancient, it very accessible, within ourselves and all around us, waiting for us to tap into it. Flowers are true gifts from nature, and that goes beyond our understanding; they can teach us in a subtle yet clear way, things we didn't understand before and that's wonderful. To be receptive to Nature's wisdom is one of the greatest opportunities.... because as we connect to Nature, we also find our way back Home, to the Divine.

(introduction)

Something I thought about is how there was a time when the method to learn everything was through observation. Simple, present absorption with patience, curiosity, eagerness to understand. If you think about it, that’s how people learned many of the things we know today, they’d look at nature for example, get familiar with its signs and rhythm… see how each thing has a function. And truly, we are still learning, still progressing and evolving through dedicated study. We may have forgotten that there wasn’t a time when we had definitions, subjects, books… and all this information to Learn. Things were observed and notes would be taken. The biologist would dedicate all its attention to Nature and Nature, being the most generous teacher shows it all, to those who are willing to pause & learn. As we focus on something, with our time and attention, we get to discover its truth, it’s a wonderful unfolding and a blossoming of our understanding in relation to things around us and within ourselves as well. I feel like it creates a connection and through that connection, we receive knowledge. Our gaze registers all the details and our mind understands, “connects the dots” and there is joy in this process, it’s like getting to know each other, it’s a re-discovery. The greatest thing we can remember is knowing we are part of Nature and we can learn to walk with Her. So if things were learned through observation, this created a DIRECT experience and the person would receive a Deeper Understanding which went beyond simply storing & memorizing information. This is a process which actively engages the person… it activates our attention fully, not just some parts of our brains. There is no stress in observing like there is in trying to memorize – it doesn’t make those words come to life as direct experience does, because there is openness. Observation is where absorption happens easily. I’m not saying this is the only method, but including it again in our mindset can be life-changing. So there would be a balance between what you memorize, and what you observe, where the two things blend together harmoniously (theory + experience). And this is where the next paragraph comes from. I happily and gratefully share things I observed from Nature.

LESSONS FROM NATURE:

SEEDS

Few months ago, I planted some rose seeds. In a month, there was only 1 sprouting. I, initially thought, the others wouldn’t show up. And yet, two more decided to arise from the soil! This taught me that all seeds take their time sprouting. Some may stay longer in the ground, in the darkness. Some may come out earlier. Do not doubt and jump to hasty conclusions! Just because only a few are sprouting, it doesn’t mean the others won’t, it only means they aren’t sprouting YET! This reminds me that trust in life is as important as planting seeds, because the force that makes them grow is Life Itself and we can trust that it takes care of absolutely everything in creation, ourselves included. You can water the soil, but also trust the process and leave it in the hands of God.

WEEDS

Taking care of plants and the state of the soil is key. When left alone for too long with little wisdom, little nurturing, it may get out of control and it takes longer to reset it back to its full functioning. But as you devote yourself to it daily, the little weeds growing are easier to extract. As you intervene earlier, it takes less space and it’s easier to control its effects. The same thing happens in our consciousness. Are we really aware of what we feed our minds daily, of the effects of that which we consumes has on us? If we don’t pause daily, with conscious awareness (truly understanding what was behind our intentions), neutral observation (not judging), curiously inquiring, there may be things who take root in ourselves that don’t belong to who we truly are. This means behaviors, things we say and think. They become like weeds infesting our minds. There is something I refer to as “programming” which is things we were taught to think of as normal growing up and that we never questioned (until we did), but growing and maturing is also recognizing what these things truly are and if they’re in alignment with our true selves. Self-inquire sheds light, it helps to know who we are underneath these "layers" and gives us direction to move in a way that feels more fulfilling and real to our hearts. Untangling programming is like extracting weeds, it is about getting to know yourself and welcoming inner change. We let go of things we believed to be true and as we do that, we can see them in a broader perspective; this truth sets us free! The key step is in truly integrating it in our life through action, simple realization is the first step, but what truly anchors the inner transformation and change on the outer world is staying true to what you know to be true within and act accordingly to that.
"...you need to learn how to select your thoughts just the same way you select your clothes you're gonna wear every day. This is a power you can cultivate. If you want to control things in your life so bad, work on the mind. That's the only thing you should be trying to control". -E. Gilbert

The Circle of Life

Last year, I came across the video of someone, specialized in inter-species communication (if you’re interested in her wonderful work and the services she offers, you can find her on IG as deep.root.connections). In one of her videos, I was immensely inspired by her neutral approach as she communicated with a tree and the insects feeding from the leaves of that tree. She communicated with both and shared the dialogue she was tuning into; she also said the insects are aware of how they are seen and treated by humans and how they were grateful that she was just letting them be. Of course, when we see insects, we all jump to conclusions and we try to “protect” the plant. We tend to think of it negatively, as if it shouldn’t happen. What I learned by simply watching that video with curiosity had a positive impact on me and on what occurred next in my life. I have a white chrysanthemum plant (in a vase). Each year it blooms beautifully. Aphids were feeding from the plant just before their blooming season. However, as I noticed it, I decided to pause and observe. I didn’t get into “let’s fix this” mode. I simply asked questions along the lines of “what’s the right thing to do?”. As I was doing this, I even noticed a ladybug (they eat aphids) and suddenly understood that everything was already balanced and taking care of itself. There was nothing to do. The expression that came to me that could describe it is: “the circle of life”. And the plant was also able to bloom so well regardless! I learned something important and that is to observe with neutrality, without judgment without thinking I know what I’m supposed to do according to what we’ve been taught and instead asking directly, because the answers do arise and they come from Truth. And there’s also something very important about this: the insects have the right to feed from trees and plants just as we do. They’re living creatures like us and they’re part of this Earth, let’s remember it! Everything in nature knows how to intelligently adjust itself!
"The reality of all life is interdependence, we need to compose our lives in such a way that we both give & receive, learning to do both with grace, seeing both as parts of a single pattern rather than as antithetical alternatives." - Mary Catherine Bateson
"We all contribute to something to existence, and existence goes on giving to us everything that we need. Once this interdependence is understood, life start having a new kind of beauty & grace." - A. Einstein

Red Geranium

Last year, I had to completely cut all the decaying branches of a red geranium. It has the most beautiful, vivid red petals. It always gets attacked by some worm that eats it from inside out. But it taught me something: it always sprouts back, no matter how much it gets eaten...that is true resilience! It grows back just as majestically, if not even more, each time. And it gives of itself as nutrients to these insects. I learned to trust in its capacity to grow back… when I cut its branches last time, I knew in my heart that it’ll bloom again and it did! There is, after all, a season for everything, whether it is about renewal or cutting away that which we are ready to let go of. Whatever it is decaying within us, it is safe to release it all. There is nothing to lose and everything to gain - because only then, all that truly aligns with our spirit can find its way back to us!
